Authorities said Sunday that the 14-year-old teen and her biological father allegedly connected to an infant death investigation in Monterey County were found in Mexico.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said 14-year-old Diana Galvez Ortega was rescued by Mexican law enforcement. Sheriff Tina Nieto said her father, Sergio Galvez Perez, was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of narcotics.
Nieto said authorities are aware of Perez’s pending charges in Monterey County, and said the teen is safe and under the care of Mexican authorities.
The announcement comes almost a month after the California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for the teen and her father.
That alert was issued amid an investigation into “Baby Angelita’s” death after authorities said she had been found on the side of the road.
