CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A big honor for the Johnson C. Smith University concert choir: they’ll be performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City next month. The choir will take part in a “Sounds of the Season” concert on November 28th.
Student Tanasia Kirby says, “What we’re focusing on is Afrofuturism and Christianity in the Black church. And so I feel like that’s so important because it helps us remember who we are as people, and especially as African-American people, as well.”
The school is calling this an exciting milestone, giving students a chance to showcase their musical talents, while representing JCSU and Charlotte.
