Deputies with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Operations Bureau recently responded to three separate calls regarding reported shooting activity at a residence on Langston Drive in Fort Pierce.

During the local law enforcement investigation, deputies determined that 43-year-old Jernord R. Kirkland, of Fort Pierce, allegedly heard a noise outside his residence and fired multiple rounds into his backyard.

As deputies continued their investigation, they learned Kirkland is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. Deputies subsequently recovered three firearms from Kirkland during the call for service, according to the Sheriff’s office.

According to law enforcement, Kirkland was arrested and transported to the St. Lucie County jail on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Discharging a Firearm in Public.
